Our Friday evening dinner at Nathalie’s on Lindell in mid-town earned accolades such as 'wow', 'amazing' and 'you must try this.' Everything was top-notch: service, décor, the mouth-wateringly fantastic food. It was a perfect pre-symphony dinner spot--close-by, but missing the pre-theater crowds so common at locales closer to Grand Center.

All the fare at Nathalie’s is farm-fresh from her 327-acre Overlook Farm in Clarksville, Missouri (Editor's Note: see the feature article our reviewer Gayle Wilson wrote about this local StL sensation for the Fall 2014 issue of Yoga & Spa). The quality of ingredients and the care and skill behind the preparation was evident with every bite.

Every detail of this former multi-story, private mansion is stylish and inviting. The atmosphere is elegant without being pretentious.

We began the meal with two blueberry mixed green salads topped with goat cheese crumbles, farm-fresh blueberries and almonds, dressed with blueberry vinaigrette. It was light and tasty and accompanied by a basket of warm bread in three varieties.

We shared the daily soup special, a root vegetable concoction that burst with flavor. For an entrée, we shared a starter of Thai curry with fresh vegetables and tempeh (also available with chicken) with a light coconut milk sauce and small centerpiece of rice. It was exceptional.

It's rare that we succumb to the temptation of dessert, but we couldn’t resist the fresh blackberry pie. With a small side of vanilla ice cream, it was a perfect end to an outstanding meal. The fresh tea service was presented with a warming candle under an ornate silver pot. Lovely.

We could only find one flaw in the entire experience, but it was minor. The piped-in music seemed ill-suited. Queen's "We are the Champions" just didn't fit.

With one craft beer and a $12 glass of Butter chardonnay, our bill was $78 before gratuity--reasonable considering the high quality and attentive service.

Run--don't walk--to Nathalie's for a healthy, high-quality dining experience. St. Louis could use more places like this. We can't wait to return again for their Sunday brunch and evening’s live musical performances. Complimentary private lot valet parking is available.
