Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Stages St. Louis

Runs Jun 2 – Jul 2, 2017

Reviewed by Isabelle Heidbreder

Stages’ 31st season opened June 2nd with a technicolor bang! Besides being a great venue – there’s not a bad seat in the house and the theater is intimate enough (377 seats) to almost make you feel you are part of the show – Joseph was truly amazing and dreamy, sensationally scored by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, of course! But the outstanding scenic, costuming, lighting and orchestral designs also contribute to the magic of presenting a huge production on what seems like so small a stage!!

It would seem to be unfair to single out Jeff Sears (Joseph), Kristen Scott (Narrator), and Brent Michael DiRoma (Potiphar/Pharaoh) for their incredible performances since each member of the ensemble seemed to find his/her own niche and part in the show. As a French native and Executive Director of the Alliance Française de St. Louis, Jeremiah Ginn and his “Canaan Days” filled me with “Oh, la-las!”

Bravo to the entire team! Technicolor Dreamcoat or not, Joseph was amazing!
