The CULVER PAVILION at the Muny

By Verna Kerans

Dear Readers,

WOW!!! What a great evening. Dinner at the Culver Pavilion at the Muny followed by a great show.

I love spending a few months in the summer in St.Louis. The Cards’ games are pretty special as is the Zoo, but seeing old friends at the Muny tops the list! So, here I am again!

My reviewer, Keran Spicka, and I took advantage of the special prime rib and salmon offering last week. It was fabulous!

We started with a cold, not-too-spicy hummus soup, They always start with a cold soup and I will tell you now that Chef Jerry outdoes himself with interesting, tasty flavors. You can thank him for the great dinners as he makes himself available for questions and often you see him looking over the food throughout the evening.

My next course was a mixed greens salad with bleu cheese and spicy thousand island or a ranch dressing. We could have also chosen chopped veggies and fruit instead of the premade salad. Also avaliable are several kinds of cheese with many cracker and bread offerings.

The best part of the dinner was the prime rib with horseradish sauce. The salmon was baked with rice and spinach in a Dijon cream sauce. Both offerings were well-seasoned and succulent. I asked Chef Jerry for some extra sauce and spinach which he delivered personally to the table! The spinach was cooked with mushrooms and chopped garlic. This delicious meal was topped off with a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. Fabulous!

Offered for the vegetarian and children, there was a fajita buffet with a variety of toppings. Also available on the buffet were cold curried cauliflower, sesame noodles, browned red potatoes, green beans with corn, and cherry tomatoes were also in the buffet. So, vegetarians have no fear, there is plenty from which to choose.

Coffee and tea are included. There is a full bar nightly and your friendly waiter will take your order.
